Germania Club Downriver:  37th German American Festival

Julian and Simon Aytes shown marchingfor the Kinderparade at the Geman Festival being held at Germania Club Downriver's Hall in Brownstown Township on May 30-31.

Brownstown Township ­ Preparations are in full swing at the Germania Club for their 37th Annual German American Festival held May 30 and 31 at the club's home at 23156 King Road in Brownstown, Michigan.

The club is located between Dix-Toledo Road and Telegraph Roads.

Hours Friday are 5pm till Midnight and Saturday 2pm till Midnight (rain or shine). Admission is $3 per day for adults. Children 12 and under are free if accompanied by a parent.

The festivities will begin on Friday May 30 with music provided by the Natale Emanuele Group from 5-9pm. Friday night also features the Martin Brothers Plus 2 band from 7:30pm until 12am.

On Saturday Millie Okapal & The Czech-Us Out Band will heat up the action 3-7pm. Sorgenbrecher will be featured group from 7:30pm until 11:30pm.

The highlight of the evening will be a Flag Ceremony at 8pm presenting area German clubs and local dignitaries. The traditional Kinder parade" will take place during the afternoon for our youngest guests.

Germania Club also offers a full cash bar including beer, wine, liquor, and soft drinks. Plenty of German food (including potato pancakes), wine and beer will be on hand um Leib und Seele zusammenzuhalten" (to benefit body and soul).

The Konditorei (cake kitchen) is stocked with delicious cakes and baked goods while the Weinstube" invites our guests to take a rest from dancing and to enjoy a glass of wine and good conversation. In addition there will be a beer tent for those who prefer to sit outside.

The club invites everybody to come and enjoy German music, food and drink and promises two days full of fun and Gemütlichkeit.
