Birmingham - Thousands braved the chilly temps to enjoy the City of
Birmingham’s fourth annual Birmingham Winter Markt in Shain Park last
weekend. The European-style market offered 42 vendors featuring a wide
variety of holiday décor, furniture, holiday greens, children’s clothing,
jewelry, candles and other unique gift items.
Similar to outdoor markets found in Germany, market attendees enjoyed
delicious European food and drinks. One top seller at the event was Glühwein,
a warm and spicy traditional German wine.
“The event itself really is unique and special. We work hard to incorporate
local schools and non-profits to make it a true community event,” said John
Heiney, executive director of the Birmingham Principal Shopping District.

princesses, live reindeer, warming stations, a Kinderhaus children’s
activity area, the popular Santa House, horse-drawn carriage rides and live
