Brownstown - Germania Club Downriver’s Oktoberfest, was a huge
The Hall was packed with happy revelers enjoying German food, music, beer
and contests. The Hall was decorated with a combination of Fall haystacks,
pumpkins and hay bales – as well as the traditional blue and white diamond
motif of the Bavarian Flag.
The Rhinelanders played from 7:30pm-11:30pm for listening and dancing
pleasure. They led the ever-popular Schnitzelbank sing-along with
assistance from Edsel Ford High School’s German teacher, Herr Sedore.
The kitchen was kept hopping with hungry guests enjoying delicious German
favorites such as bratwurst, sauerkraut, schnitzel, giant soft pretzels, and

we are so grateful to Bridge da Gap and her team of awesome ladies!!!.
There were three different German beers on tap, a long list of bottled
German beers as well as some domestic Oktoberfest styles. Many guests took
part in our popular “shot-ski” challenge with Jagermeister. Our youngest
visitors enjoyed “Haunted Hayrides” around the property, courtesy of Natale
Emanuele and his tractor.
The first contest was our version of Masskrugstemmen, a stein-holding test
of strength. Our contestants held a pitcher full of water at arms’ length
for as long as possible, without spilling. The winner was David Haener, who
outlasted 15 others to take the prize. The next contest was a women’s
yodeling contest which was won by Stephanie Scheuermann. Stephen Sedore won
the third contest, which was an informal men’s Schuplattler (dance)
