Oregon, OH - The club has been very active since the summer. On
Saturday, September 10, the Verein members gathered for a private picnic and
in keeping with German tradition a large amount of food and beer was enjoyed
by all. The well feted members sang a variety of old German songs but are
not ready for a professional debut.
The Verein held its annual Kirchweih Fest on Sunday, November 6, at the Oak
Shade Grove in Oregon, OH and as normal open to the public. The food, beer,
music and entertainment where enjoyed by large group on a day of wonderful
weather. The delicious sausages and pork roast came from Kilgus Meat Market.
The spätzle were again made to perfection by the infamous “Fremont Spätzle
Team” under the watchful eye and leadership of Ms. Theresa Jakober. The
Encore Band added to the Gemütlichkeit which included Fritz Hetzel joining
Vern Basilius and his band for several German songs, both are members of the
Toledo Schwaben Verein. The dessert table was again filled with wonderful
goodies for which we thank Marsha Dunaway and all the ladies who helped
prepare the presumably low caloric delights.
On Saturday, November 12, the Verein members enjoyed a bus trip to Saline,
MI to attend the Ann Arber Schwaben Verein Kirchweih Fest. The food, beer,
wine and entertainment was enjoyed by everyone. SHH
